New Year - No Fear

During this time of year, many make new years resolutions to become a better them; however, after a few weeks those resolutions are long forgotten.  Here are four reasons why new years resolutions don’t work:
  1. People aren’t ready to change their habits, particularly bad habits, and that accounts for the high failure rate
  2. People set unrealistic goals and expectations in their resolutions.
  3. People set resolutions that are out of alignment with their internal view of themselves - “false hope syndrome”
  4. People get discouraged when they don't see improvements/progress right away

Making resolutions work involves changing behaviors—and in order to change a behavior, you have to change your thinking

Here are six tips to help you make them work:
    1. Focus on one resolution and set realistic, specific goals.
    2. Take small steps
    3. Have an accountability buddy, someone to whom you have to report
    4. Celebrate your success between milestones
    5. Focus your thinking on new behaviours and thought patterns
    6. Focus on what you can do today

With that said, lets set a realistic resolution with specific goals and be accountable to one another as an approach2link family.  We will take small steps and celebrate each step taken.  In addition, we will focus on our thinking process in order to change our behaviour. And lastly, we will start today :)

Approach2link's tagline is "Creating Approachable Opportunities"

This is a mantra that will continue into the new year.

If you would like to participate in this resolution?

To participate...

First, you will have to sign up so that we know who is participating and so we can hold each other accountable

Second, you will have to commit to participating for at least 8 weeks.

Third, you have to share your progress.

That's all :)
