The Interview
A while ago my friend drew me to the attention of the following article - How to Answer, “Tell me about yourself.” In it, tips were recommended on how you should answer that question in a job interview... As a professional, one can assume that you have been asked this question on your interview for your current job. Considering that you are employed, it’s fair to say that you have passed that test. However, do we pass with the same flying colours when asked that question on a date?
On the surface, one would say that a first date should not be equivalent to a job interview, yet, it is the most common question asked.
“Tell me about yourself”
It is the most intimidating question one can ask, if you ask me.
Think about it, when an employer asks you that question, they don’t want to know about your childhood. For them, they are more concerned about your professional qualifications and any history that's relevant to the position. Is this the same on the date? Should we answer by stating our qualifications of being a good wife/husband and any relevant history that will prove that we will be a “good asset” for their household?
If employers want to know what skills you bring and how you will help their business, in the same way, does your date want to know what skills you bring and how you will be a good wife/husband?

NB: I plan on investigating how to answer this question on a date in a future post…
