A Brave Man Takes a Bite off of a Strangers Plate

What would make a man feel brave enough to approach a group of ladies and part take in their meal?

Luckily us ladies were good sports about it.

Here are my thoughts as to what made this man brave enough to approach us.

We were sitting adjacent to a large window but we were not originally there. We started sitting way in the back of the restaurant in a section that was very secluded. It was a table perfect for a couple on a date who would like some privacy but not perfect for a group of single ladies who were willing to meet a greet. So we asked to be moved to a different table. We spotted one that was closer to the action it was near the bar and near a window.

I believe this simple act of moving away from the secluded area to a more open area made us more approachable.

Now being at the window we were visible to those who were walking by. Who ever walked by could see us laughing and having a good time. Two gentleman walked by, stopped and attempted to engage us. We could have ignored them or even give them a dirty look. Both would be acts that would turn them away and not cause them to be brave enough to approach us but instead we smiled. They then indicated in hand signals that they would like some food. I nodded indicated that they could have some not know that they would seriously take up the offer. They actually come in, hunt for a fork and dig into my friend's meal.

The question is what made us approachable? Well our location first of all. Where we sat gave us an approachable opportunity. Secondly, our smile. If we didn't give an inviting smile they would have kept walking and maybe even have felt embarrassed for attempting to engage us through the window.

Future Tips...
At a restaurant, sit in an area where the action is. Sit facing towards the action. If there is a window seat or a patio choose to sit there so that you can see the action outside. Once someone tries to engage conversation with you, don't ignore it or turn your face, instead give an inviting smile and enjoy what happens next :) ~ Approach2link
